FAQ for Artists: Siren Syncs' Publishing and Revenue Model
At Siren Syncs, we aim to empower artists while ensuring their music has the best opportunities for placement. Below is a detailed FAQ to clarify how our agreements work and how we handle publishing and royalties.

1. What does Siren Syncs take in terms of publishing?
We take 100% of the sync publishing for music placed through our agency. This ensures we can efficiently manage sync placements and streamline the administrative process.
Important: This does not affect your commercial publishing rights. You maintain full control over your publishing for streaming, radio, live performances, and any other non-sync uses of your music.
2. How are upfront sync fees handled?
We take a 20% agency fee from any upfront sync fees. This covers the work we do to secure the placement, negotiate deals, and handle logistics.
Example: If a sync placement generates a $10,000 upfront fee, you keep $8,000, and Siren Syncs takes $2,000.
3. Why does Siren Syncs list itself as publisher on my sync placements?
Taking control of sync publishing allows us to:
-
Act quickly on opportunities.
-
Negotiate the best deals for your music.
-
Streamline the administrative process for sync placements.
By handling publishing on the sync side, we make it easier for your music to land premium placements without unnecessary delays. This in no way impacts or impedes your commercial releases! This is only for music that is placed with a client for usage.
5. Does this impact my ability to release music commercially?
Not at all! You retain 100% control over the publishing for your commercial releases, including:
-
Streaming platforms (e.g., Spotify, Apple Music).
-
Radio play.
-
Live performances.
Our publishing control only applies to sync-related placements.
6. What makes Siren Syncs different from other agencies?
We are a boutique, artist-first agency dedicated to empowering women of color and indie artists. With years of experience and a track record of placements with networks like CBS, Netflix, Paramount+, and Disney, we focus on creating opportunities for underrepresented voices in the sync space.
7. How do I submit my music?
Once onboarded, you’ll be guided on how to submit music directly to our team. Ensure you control 100% of both the master and publishing rights for any pre-existing music you submit.
8. What happens if I have more questions?
