What Beyoncé Taught Me About Ownership (and Why You Better Start Paying Attention)

Let’s just get to it: Beyoncé is not just an artist. She’s an enterprise. A strategist. A motherf*ckin mogul.

And watching her over the years—really watching, not just fangirling—has taught me one of the most powerful lessons of my life: Ownership is the difference between talent and legacy.
Let Me Break That Down.
We all saw what happened when she dropped Lemonade. She didn’t just release an album—she released an experience. On her terms. On her platforms. In her power.
She owned her masters.
She owned the visuals.
She owned the narrative.
And most importantly? She owned herself.
And sis… if you don’t own your story, your voice, your work—someone else will.
That Hit Me in the Chest.
As a Black woman in the music and media industries, I’ve been underestimated, underpaid, and overlooked. I’ve been asked to shrink, to settle, to be grateful for crumbs.
But watching Beyoncé own her art, her time, her family, her pleasure—and yes, her money—lit a fire under my ass.
It’s why I started my agency. It’s why I wrote my book. It’s why I teach women how to protect their music, their energy, and their damn magic.
Because we are done performing for the gatekeepers. We are building our own gates.
So Let Me Ask You:
What do you own right now?
Do you own your content?
Do you own your masters?
Do you own your energy? Your boundaries? Your brand?
Do you own your name? (Yes girl, I mean the trademark.)
Do you own your past? Your pain? Your transformation?
Or are you renting your power to other people’s platforms, opinions, and expectations?
Beyoncé Showed Me It’s Bigger Than Music.
It’s about legacy. It’s about telling your truth without permission. It’s about building something that doesn’t just shine—it lasts.
And I want that for you. So bad.

Let’s get free.
